The St. George's Society Toronto is delighted to announce that the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, has graciously accepted the role of Honorary Patron. Her Honour’s exemplary dedication to public service aligns with the St. George’s Society’s mission to support and enrich the lives of our community members.
On St. George’s Day (April 23rd) in 1834, a group of individuals established The St. George’s Society of Toronto to support philanthropy in the City of Toronto, while providing members with a strong sense of community and fellowship.
For almost two centuries, the Society’s mission has been to support a strong civic community, which began with immigrants from England and Wales. Today, the Society is now an inclusive and diverse non-profit organization supporting charitable efforts in health care, education and the arts and culture.
In line with Her Honour’s passion for education, the Society is a strong advocate for higher education. We have been promoting the advancement of younger generations through university endowment programs since 1921 through 7 institutions in Ontario, and more recently, supporting new Canadians and visible minorities as they enter the world of entrepreneurship.
Christine Yu, President of The St George's Society of Toronto, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the Honourable Edith Dumont as our new Honorary Patron. Her Honour’s dedication to community service and her distinguished record of public service makes her an exemplary choice for this role. We look forward to working closely with her to further our mission of supporting and enriching the lives of those in our community”.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the St. George’s Society of Toronto. Together, we will make a positive impact on our community and honour our shared roots and heritage.
